As a fiber artist, I'm always curious about new ways to combine mediums in my work. This project is a reflection of this ambition, as it brings together crochet, knitting and embroidery in an expansive wrap.

This wrap is the product of mixing multiple mediums from within the fiber arts: crochet, knitting and embroidery. Delicate crocheted granny squares line the length of one side of the piece. These were made with lace weight wool, hand dyed using plant extracts in Denmark. They served as the anchor of the piece, providing guidance for additional colors and textures.

For the body of the wrap, I opted for a soft merino wool in a light taupe the dyer calls Antique Lace. This lovely wool has a beautiful drape, and serves as the perfect canvas for embroidery.

I chose a chevron pattern to embroider the knitted fabric because I liked how the angled stripes echoed the motif and hues of the granny squares. Also, I was keen to choose an embroidery pattern that would look beautiful on both sides of the wrap. As a result, the wrap is stunning no matter how you choose to wear it!

Dimensions:
This wrap is generously proportioned at 82" (208cm) long  x  18" (46cm) wide. It can be worn in a wide variety of ways to showcase color and provide warmth!

Materials:
For the granny squares: 100% wool dyed by hand using plants by Mette Mehlsen in Denmark. The granny squares were woven together using plant dyed thread obtained from Loop of London. The knitted portion of the scarf was made with soft, taupe merino wool. The embroidery was completed using a variety of colors and bases, all hand dyed by artisans from around the world. I take great pride and pleasure in sourcing the best materials for my handmade pieces.

Care:
Carefully hand wash and rinse in cold water using a wool wash. Do not mix with other garments. Do not agitate excessively or expose to temperature extremes, or the wool could felt. Gently press (not wring!) out excess water with a towel and dry flat in the original shape. Do not hang to dry. Alternatively, you can use a trusted dry cleaner.
