Single crochet (in US terms)/double crochet (in UK terms) is a wonderful stitch that is easy to learn, simple to work and beautiful to behold. But best of all among its terrific attributes is the fact that it can serve as a perfect grid for embroidery! And that grid is simply divine as a belt.

This tutorial includes instructions for a crocheted belt. It also introduces what I call “Anchor Stitches”. Anchor Stitches are embroidered into the crocheted belt and serve, as the name implies, as anchors for additional embroidery. Once you have crocheted your belt and embroidered your Anchor Stitches, you’re ready to add color, texture and patterns to BOTH sides of your belt for a reversible piece of wearable art! This document provides two charted motifs that will look beautiful embroidered into your belt. And as a bonus, the tutorial also includes a second option for the construction of the belt.

Instructions for the Anchor Stitches and the two embroidered motifs are charted with detailed explanations.

If you’re new to crochet, I’ve recorded a step-by-step video for my YouTube channel which will introduce you to the craft and prepare you to make this belt. You can find that video here.
