Stockinette is a wonderful stitch that is easy to learn, simple to work, and beautiful to behold. But perhaps best of all is that it is also a perfect grid for embroidery! This document contains charts for two different embroidered cable motifs, inspired by twisted stitch cable knitting patterns.
The instructions for stitching these motifs are charted. If you need additional assistance reading your knitted stitches, please visit my website, bloomhandmadestudio.com, for in-depth tutorials on adding embroidery to stockinette.
This stunning stitch pattern can be applied to any purled fabric! For patterns designed with embroidery in mind, including these beautiful socks, called My Sock Canvas, please visit my website, bloomhandmadestudio.com.
These socks were knit with Marianated Yarns Practicality sock yarn in the color Blue My Mind and embroidered with the same weight of yarn in Bumble. However, you can apply the technique to different weights of knitting using differing weights of yarn for embroidery. Marian has put together kits with minis of three different weights here.
