Modern quilts are truly a source of inspiration for me. In particular, I love how artists of this craft have taken a skillset of days gone by and modernized the look to appear more contemporary, without sacrificing any of the traditional attention to detail and craftsmanship. This design follows suit - marrying heirloom-quality handwork with a modern aesthetic by employing simple textures and a contemporary palette.
My own children adored their own “lovies”, as they were growing up. Each of them had their favorite blankets, which they adorned with nicknames and treasured until the pieces were well past their prime. I loved designing this pattern and making this sample, as it took me back to the time when my now fully grown "babies" were, well, really babies. This blanket is lovingly hand stitched with care and attention paid to each detail. It is sure to become a family heirloom!
The blanket is comprised of four sections: bold diagonal stripes, a block star, striking chevrons and a pinwheel. A playful and vibrant palette brings all the geometric shapes together.
