- An overview of the ratios I used to substitute a yarn with a different stitch and row gauge from what the pattern designated. I show how to plug numbers into the ratios to solve for how many stitches and also how many rows to work, given gauge differential. I also show how to do the math once the ratios have been filled in.
- Notable things to consider, such as swatching and skein procurement, when working with a different gauge from what's designated in the pattern.
This is a lengthy newsletter which takes a topic that is best suited for a book and/or lengthy class and condenses it into a useful guide meant to empower the knitter to be creative when selecting yarns for projects.
